i applied a few drift settings on my cars but i cant seem to make them drift. Do i need to use handbrake? Should i be using a steering wheel instead of a controller? how do i drift...><" speed approaching what kinds of corners how much do i need to brake... stability control...abs...traction control... manual/automatic? should i follow the line which forza provides...or should i come up with my own? etc... thanks

defo take the tcs and stm off.......... those will brake a spinning wheel, and drifting is all about spinning wheels
use a rwd car ofcourse.
theres different ways of attacking a corner, using the line might not be a good idea........since your car will now be wider(with having the rear out) so go in a little slower but higher in the lane .....and then turn in either with handbrake, with over braking or simply by rocking the car til the rear comes out.......... then you apply gas.....donĀ“t apply too much.......since you will either over rev or spin out........and don't apply to little.......since you will loose the spinning of the wheels(drift)
angles, entry speed and line is something you have to practise......... not everybody drifts the same
join up with others and learn from them
I think thats it

You could also start out with AWD for drift. Take some time using the techniques jake recommends, but the beauty that AWD offers is 100% throttle through corners whilst sliding ;D With AWD though you will really benefit from maximum power, so grab all upgrades that add power and reduce weight, you don't really need to worry about tyres as these will add grip (not really what you want from drifting). RWD are different and you don't need excess amounts of power, you just need some basic upgrades as most RWD cars will drift straight from the start. RWD is technique where AWD is power. Having said that though for me RWD is extremely difficult due to the fact I have mostly drifted Skylines and WRXs' on Forza.... RWD drifters recommend trying with the S14 (Nissan 240SX) for nice easy drifts. Do you have Xlink-Kai? Most days you will find people on there that will drift with you, and watching others really helps you out more than words in posts. www.zippyvideos.com/8797901043483616/scooby_d_0002/ ...this is me drifting WRX at Tsukuba

i do it total differnt but simialer at the same time. i tweek the car so it has a lot of wheel spin in 1 2 n3 then the long speed gears for the straiter road courses in 45 or 456. i also take my accel on my diff n take it down so it locks faster creating both rear wheels to break loose faster. when i end a turn i enter it rather slow, but im not looking for times, i take the time n try to drift all the way with a slower speed( like in real street drifting of down hill drifting), and also it depends on the track n condition. that plays on how much grip youll get 9 for the front) and how much power youll need for the rear. i have a car pretty much for every track it seems like or a set up for every track, so pretty much just play with your settings on the car untill you can get the best drift out of your car. n yes i can drift the hole forza infeild track, thats fun....
hears some cars i recomdem starting with the silvia( s14 or s15(240sx), supra tt, WRX, Evo VIII, cobra mustang(loads of power n you can walk the car very easy)
i also recomdem going on the auto x tacks n drifting it helps you learn to control the car and how to whip the car around with out spining out.. well this is just my apion. but its all about having fun n learning Late

For me rwd is harder to drift. I started out with a awd car.
